Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Navy Yard team is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented, and pragmatic intern for Summer 2025. The successful candidate will work closely with the Navy Yard Analyst & Project Manager and the Director of Leasing & Development to advance projects and strategic initiatives. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
GIS & Mapping:
- Prepare PIDC for GIS conversion by organizing archived files in various formats (e.g., CADD, PDF, paper). Assist in developing and implementing a strategy to examine, determine usefulness, and create a filing system to organize and archive these files as applicable.
- Update maps of critical assets such as elevation mapping, Keystone Opportunity Zones (KOZ), historic zones, and the campus directory map in their current format.
- Support the kick-off of the GIS conversion project, which will be led by a third-party consultant and managed by the Analyst & Project Manager.
Planning & Real Estate:
- Support Salesforce data entry and reporting.
- Support the real estate team and campus activities to prepare for residents.
- Assist in various planning studies.
- Assist in prospecting potential funding opportunities.
- Support external partnership tours and meetings.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate or graduate student with relevant work experience and/or coursework in GIS, spatial analysis, geography, urban studies, urban planning, real estate, engineering, architecture, facilities management, or community development.
- Demonstrated experience with Excel, Customer Relation Management software (preferably Salesforce), and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic knowledge of GIS is required.
- Some CADD and/or Adobe Creative Suite experience is highly encouraged but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
