JOB DESCRIPTION
Pilsen Wellness Center, Inc. is a community-based not-for-profit agency that provides culturally sensitive services to a multicultural population with limited financial resources. The organization’s mission has remained providing quality human services to economically disadvantaged children and families. The agency is comprised of five divisions - Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Early Intervention, Youth Services and Education which are currently supported through 17 different locations.
Latino Youth High School (LYHS) offers young persons a second chance to obtain a high school diploma. This alternative charter school incorporates a student-centered approach emphasizing individualized instruction coupled with added supports such as parenting groups for young mothers, counseling, and leadership development. Nationally recognized as a model charter school, LYHS provides a safe, respectful, gang-neutral environment to young persons attending its state-of-the-art facilities. The school is a campus of the Youth Connection Charter Schools and provides other academic services funded by the Alternative Schools Network.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking an English Teacher for our Latino Youth High School located at 2001 South California Avenue Chicago, Illinois 60608.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
This English Teacher will provide meaningful and engaging standards based instruction and assessment in the content area of English to be taught within the context of the philosophy and mission of the high school.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Teaching Experience, a valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License in subject area. Bachelor’s Degree required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
This is a salary based position.
