SUMMARY: The Tour Guide is responsible for providing meaningful, informative, accurate, safe, and engaging tours of the museum's aircraft exhibit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure that each Visitor receives outstanding Visitor Service by providing a Visitor friendly environment.

· Provide informative guided tours for primarily the general public and groups including schools and other commercial and occasional military tour groups.

· Be able to operate tour vehicles including but not limited to a 40 passenger tram.

· Provide excellent customer service and engagement throughout the guided tour and ensure visitor safety while operating the tram.

· Be able to communicate information to all levels of visitor understanding.

· Answer visitor questions and monitor visitors to ensure all safety rules are being followed.

· Maintain an accurate and current level of knowledge and awareness regarding all museum pricing, tours and applicable programs.

· Be able to efficiently use the Museums POS system to sell tour tickets.

· Communicate visitor requests to management.

· Interact with all museum guests, employees, and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner.

· Other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.

· Strong interpersonal and strong customer service skills

· Confident Public speaking skills

· Effective time management skills

· Ability to be flexible in scheduling and daily duties, includes regular weekend and holiday shifts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Ability to walk and stand routinely through a shift

· Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.

· Ability to maintain control of the tour group throughout the tour.

· Ability to speak, confidently clearly and precisely to a large group of people

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and be able to pull/push 150 lbs with or without assistance.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be working in all weather types. They must be able to work in the elements, for extend period of time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

The Tour Guide /Guest Services Associate is required, at a minimum, to have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. One year cash handling experience, including reconciling a cash drawer, is preferred.

Preferred qualifications:

Any one of the following:

· 1-2 years of Experience in group management

· 1-2 years in historic interpretation

· 1-2 years in a customer service-based role

· 1-2 years in public speaking

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Candidate will have the ability to read and comprehend simple to moderate instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Candidate will have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
