Position Title: Parts Runner
Department: Warehouse
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Parts Runner plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of plumbing and HVAC technicians by ensuring that necessary parts, materials, and tools are delivered to job sites promptly and accurately. This role requires working both indoors and outdoors, with the ability to perform in extreme temperatures, including hot summers and cold winters. The Parts Runner will also assist with warehouse organization, inventory management, and maintaining smooth operations to support the field teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick-Up & Delivery:
- Deliver parts, tools, and equipment to plumbing and HVAC technicians at various job sites as requested.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and safe deliveries to the correct location.
- Pick up parts or materials from local suppliers as directed by management.
- Inventory & Stocking:
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory of plumbing, HVAC parts, materials, and tools within the warehouse.
- Help restock shelves and ensure the proper organization of materials for easy access by warehouse and field teams.
- Assist in tracking incoming and outgoing inventory to prevent shortages and ensure that orders are fulfilled efficiently.
- Warehouse & Equipment Assistance:
- Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles, handling heavy and bulky items such as piping, HVAC units, and other supplies.
- Assist in pulling and preparing materials for upcoming plumbing and HVAC projects.
- Working Conditions:
- Regularly work in extreme heat and cold, including outdoor deliveries and warehouse work in non-climate-controlled environments.
- Safely operate delivery vehicles in a variety of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
- Lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) in both hot and cold environments.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Coordinate with warehouse staff and field technicians to ensure that all parts are ready for delivery.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and provide updates on delivery status, inventory levels, and parts availability.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pick-ups, and inventory movements.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, plumbing, or HVAC environment is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with plumbing and HVAC parts is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including high heat and cold temperatures.
- Operate a forklift.
- Skilled in safely and efficiently backing up a small and large trailer.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs) consistently.
- Basic computer skills for tracking orders and inventory.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt to changing priorities, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily working in warehouse and job site environments, with frequent driving between locations.
- Exposure to extreme heat during summer months and cold temperatures during winter, both indoors and outdoors.
