School psychologists support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments and strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. School psychologists conduct a variety of standardized assessments on individual students; provide consultation to teachers, administrators and families on both academic and non-academic barriers to learning; design and assist with monitoring behavioral intervention plans; participate in school and district-wide prevention strategies; function as critical members of data teams; develop and deliver professional development; as well as other significant functions.
