The Education Coordinator (EC) provides clinical expertise to healthcare providers and patients through utilization of their clinical skills and education, helping them to improve patient outcomes.
Design and implement educational programs including orientation, in-service, and continuing education to prepare staff to deliver the highest quality of nursing care available.
The EC is responsible for coordinating training for staff and patients. The EC will coordinate annual skills competencies and department specific training utilizing Plumas District Hospital learning management systems, and competency assessments in collaboration with the hospital Clinical Education Coordinator.
Job duties may include planning and overseeing a program for trainees and managing continuing education opportunities for current staff members. Additionally, the EC may coordinate educational opportunities for medical, nursing, or other students.
The EC may also present reports or make training suggestions to management.
The EC will work with the hospital EC, HR, and IT to track data in multiple databases, run technical reports and perform advanced complex word processing.
The EC supports patient education by developing materials and resources for staff to use and provides direct patient education as needed.
Position requires five years of nursing experience to include hospital or clinic nursing, clinical education, or quality.
Supervisory or nursing instruction experience is preferred.
Position requires Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a current California RN license.
Preferred education: Master's degree; possession degree, license, certification or equivalent clinical experience and trainig approrpirate for the job requirements and responsibilities; certification in a formal quality management technique such as LEAN or Six Sigma.
