What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at POLITICO?

POLITICO is seeking a Controller to join our Finance and Accounting team. The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of all aspects of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
What You'll Do:
- Direct all US accounting functions including monthly General Ledger close, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Payroll
- Manage US Treasury functions across multiple banking platforms
- Manage preparation of consolidated financial statements and parent company reporting
- Lead US audits including financial statement audits, operational audits, and tax/ compliance audits
- Provide senior leadership with information vital to the decision-making process
- Provide technical accounting guidance for non-standard US revenue and expense contracts
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations to improve processes and internal controls
- Represent and co-lead US Finance team on global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration implementation
- Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
What You'll Need:
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA required
- Previous experience in corporate accounting preferred
