We are seeking dedicated and reliable substitute teachers to join our team. As a substitute teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Your responsibilities will include delivering lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring a smooth continuation of the curriculum.
This position is a long term substitute position with a charter school district in San Antonio. It starts on 1/6 and ends on 5/31.
Duties:
- Provide instruction and guidance to students in the absence of the regular teacher
- Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of learning
- Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment
- Implement classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and behavior management
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students
- Collaborate with other staff members to support student success
- Provide feedback to the regular classroom teacher regarding student progress and any issues that arise during your assignment.
- Complete all training required by TEA.
Experience:
- Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, tutoring, or related fields is preferred
- Familiarity with special education is beneficial
- Experience working with students of various ages and abilities, including preschool and special education students, is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with students
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; higher education in education or related field is a plus
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong writing, reading and communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and maintain discipline.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different grade levels and subject areas.
- Prior experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- You will be cross trained by Director of Sped at CRPS on how to support students in special education; this role require supporting bathroom changes, proper restraint, and support, as needed.
Physical Abilities Needed to Perform the Assignment
- Ability to lift and carry 40 Lbs
- Be able to remain active for up to 8 hours consecutively, and have the ability to kneel, crouch, or sit comfortably
- Visually and audibly able to monitor the classrooms and students and navigate for emergencies.
- Have the physical ability to perform CPR
- To be able to move swiftly in emergency situations
