What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist Assistant position at Portera Rehabilitation?
Physical Therapy Assistants work closely with Physical Therapists and other PTAs to provide rehabilitative care to patients. Duties and responsibilities of a Physical Therapy Assistant include but are not limited to the following:
- Patient assessment:
- Observing patients before, during, and after therapy to monitor progress and report findings to the physical therapist.
- Treatment implementation:
- Performing manual therapy techniques like stretching, massage, and joint mobilizations as directed by the physical therapist.
- Exercise instruction:
- Guiding patients through specific exercises to improve strength, range of motion, and functional abilities.
- Equipment usage:
- Setting up and operating therapeutic equipment like electrical stimulation units, traction devices, and exercise machines.
- Patient education:
- Instructing patients and their families on home exercise programs and proper use of assistive devices.
- Documentation:
- Maintaining detailed patient records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Communication:
- Collaborating with the physical therapist to adjust treatment plans as needed and communicating any concerns or changes in patient status.
