We are looking for an experienced Safety Coordinator with experience working in Utility (transmission, distribution and substation) Construction, to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents. The position will travel the state of Kentucky and surrounding areas. You will monitor field operations to eliminate hazardous activities. Safety coordinators should be well-versed in all OSH (occ. safety & health) dictations. Your work will be focused on prevention so you need to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers. The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace.

Responsibilities
- Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
- Conduct safety inspections, observations, investigations and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
- Communicates, coaches and trains crews on the current HSE work practices and rules, policies and procedures.
- Prepares reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries/property/utility damage incidents.
- Enforce OSH (occ. safety & health) policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
- Coordinate drug screening (Randoms (DOT & NON), post accident, reasonable suspicion)
- Direct accident investigation procedures
- Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
- Organize and conduct OSH training plans
- Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
- Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters
Skills
- Proven experience as safety coordinator in the power line construction industry
- In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices
- Experience in reporting and developing policies
- OSHA 30 Training
- CUSP certification, or OSHA training certification
- Experience in implementing OSH training programs
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent communication and advisory skills
- Diligent with an analytical mind
- BSc/Ba in business administration, Safety or relevant field
- MVR qualifies individual to be an approved company driver
- Pass pre-employment drug screen
