What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at Power Systems International Inc?
Reporting to the Sr Safety Specialist, the Safety Coordinator helps promote a company culture focused on safety awareness aimed at keeping all employees safe and preventing safety and accident events through communication, programs, training, policy development and enforcement and analysis and reporting of data.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing safety programs, processes, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements and effectively reduce or eliminate occupational injury and illness.
Support the facilities by conducting audits, inspections, and investigations of procedures and equipment to identify unsafe conditions and coordinate resolution of issues, violations, and hazards.
Deliver safety training to increase employee awareness of safety requirements and assist department heads and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes.
Provide aid with workers compensation cases including claims and return to work accommodations.
Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and navigating the plant with alert behavior.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety standards and ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
Coordinate an in-house safety committee which consists of employees from all production areas; meet monthly or as needed to address any reoccurrence of safety breaches, safety concerns, and how to minimize safety incidents.
All other duties as assigned by management.
Shift:
Monday-Friday 9 AM-5:30 PM
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of federal and state occupational, health and safety regulations, especially OSHA standards
Demonstrated success in implementing, improving, and managing programs, communication, training, and reporting related to health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
Tech capable Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint; quickly able to learn and implement new software and tools to promote learning.
Ability and willingness to travel to all PSI facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Project management skills
Effective communication at all levels of organization
Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
Salary : $53,000 - $60,000
