The Senior Calibration Engineer develops engine control system calibrations for spark-ignited internal combustion engines (ICEs) on conventional and alternative fuels including operating, manipulating, and testing engines in-laboratory and in-vehicle or equipment, analyzing data, and manipulating control systems to optimize the performance of the engine and system.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop base engine performance and emissions calibrations, and on-board diagnostic calibrations (OBD), for development projects involving on- and off-road ICEs
Calibrate engine electronic control system for performance, efficiency, emissions, diagnostics, and durability on engine test bed and in vehicle or equipment
Guide in-vehicle and in-equipment calibration development internally, at external test facilities, and at customer locations
Author or approve Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) documents for internal and external calibration development projects
Effectively lead teams conducting ICE tests in analyzing, reporting, and presenting data to senior management, internal technical teams, and customers
Provide mentorship and training of employees within the group in a test environment, providing guidance on operating engine and test cell equipment in real-time during calibration development and testing
Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and navigating the plant with alert behavior
All other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
Demonstrated subject matter expertise and/or aptitude of the mechanical and electrical aspects of internal combustion engines including automotive calibration development, compression ignition, stoichiometric SI, and lean-burn combustion phenomena, calibration development fundamentals and processes, electronic control systems and DC electrical systems and control methodology
ETAS INCA, MATLAB, Uniplot, AVL CRETA, and post-processing software proficiency
Experience with OBD systems, software, methodologies, monitors, and calibration processes as well as the OBD development life-cycle, milestones, and certification
Hands-on experience with engine diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
Understanding of EGR & turbocharged engine control preferred

Salary : $96,000 - $111,000
