Status: Full-Time, Day Shift

Wage: $21.00-$29.00 DOE (& Seniority with Prestige)

In this job, everyday you will…

1. Design a creative and exciting life enrichmentprogram to meet group and individual needs taking into consideration theinterests of the residents.

2. Plan and implement life enrichment calendar eachmonth that includes life skills, education, wellness, recreational, andspiritual programming. Provides a calendar for each resident, his or herfamilies, and friends. Posts calendars throughout the facility.

3. Provide one-to-one programming for residents whocannot participate in a group setting.

4. Coordinate the holiday decorations with the helpof residents and coordinates the volunteers to help with events. Coordinatesthe help of other staff as necessary to bring residents to and from activities/events.

5. Maintains life enrichment budget, equipment, andsupplies.

6. Participates in the review of plan of care anddocuments life enrichment progress every six months or when there is asignificant change in the resident.

7. Coordinates quarterly special events thatincludes residents, families, friends and the community at large.

8. Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers.

Education & Experienceyou need to qualify:

  • Must have 2 or more years of experience in asocial or recreational program within the last 5 years working with olderadults OR Qualified Occupational Therapist or Assistant.
  • Basic PC and Word Processing Software required.
  • Valid commercial Class B driver’s license andaccess to a private vehicle for business use.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • You will need to complete a state certifiedactivities training program or having one or more years of direct programmingexperience with older adults is helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such assafety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and proceduremanuals.
  • You will need the ability to speak effectivelybefore groups of residents, staff and volunteers.

Ways you can advancebeyond the Activities Director role:

Once you master this role, you could consider the Life EnrichmentDirector (assisted living), Administrator in Training (AIT) program, ExecutiveDirector (assisted living), Central Supply Coordinator, or other higher levelclinical jobs (Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, etc.) with higher levelsof education.
