Job Title: Line Clearance Tree Trimmer
Reports to: Distribution Foreman
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Line Clearance Tree Trimmer is responsible for the safe and efficient trimming, pruning, and removal of trees and vegetation around power lines and electrical distribution systems. This role involves working outdoors, often in challenging weather conditions, to maintain clearances from power lines and ensure the safety and reliability of electrical distribution systems. The Line Clearance Tree Trimmer works under the direction of the Distribution Foreman to complete assigned tasks.

Essential Functions:
Tree Trimming & Pruning: Trim, prune, and remove trees, branches, and vegetation around power lines and electrical distribution systems to maintain required clearances.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of tools and equipment, and maintaining proper clearances from energized lines.
Equipment Operation: Operate various equipment, such as chainsaws, pole saws, brush chippers, aerial lifts, and climbing gear, to perform tree trimming and removal tasks.
Climbing & Rigging: Climb trees using ropes, harnesses, or climbing gear and safely rig branches for controlled removal.
Vegetation Management: Identify hazardous trees and vegetation, and communicate with the Distribution Foreman regarding removal or trimming needs.
Site Cleanup: Ensure work areas are cleaned and cleared of debris after trimming or removal activities, maintaining a safe environment for the crew and the public.
Communication: Communicate effectively with the Distribution Foreman and other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including the types of trees trimmed, areas cleared, and any hazards encountered.
Other Functions:
Assist with other tasks and projects as directed by the Distribution Foreman.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of tree trimming, safety practices, and equipment operation.
Collaborate with team members to complete assignments efficiently.
Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL preferred but not required. Must be able to obtain Class A CDL in 6 months of hire.
Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in tree trimming, line clearance, or vegetation management around power lines is preferred.
Line Clearance Tree Trimmer certification or willingness to obtain is preferred; First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
Knowledge of tree trimming techniques, tools, and equipment.
Ability to identify tree species and understand their growth patterns.
Strong awareness of safety practices related to working near power lines.
Physical ability to perform climbing, lifting, and other physically demanding tasks.
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily outdoors at various job sites, requiring exposure to different weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.
