Core HR Manager Responsibilities

  • Staff Recruiting - From job listing creation, to vetting candidates and scheduling interviews, the HR Manager is primarily responsible for helping us continue to grow our awesome team and building our employer brand.
  • Writer Recruitment - Our editors work with a specialized team of highly vetted content creators. This team of freelancers is always growing, and the HR Manager is responsible for maintaining a funnel of new candidates and coordinating with editors to finalize new team members.
  • Onboarding - Profound Strategy has built a comprehensive onboarding strategy over the years and the HR Manager is responsible for ensuring a great employee experience from Day 1.
  • Staff Events - We regularly host online and in-person events for our team. The HR Manager is responsible for creating and running innovative events to maintain and improve key aspects of our company culture—such as building connection for all team members, helping to establish and enhance relationships of trust and openness, and creating shared experiences.
  • Staff Coaching and Training - We leverage a handful of primary online software tools (Google Workspace, Jira, and Zenefits, for example). The HR Manager is the staff’s first point of contact for training and questions on those primary tools.
  • Various HR management support in areas such as payroll, benefits, etc.
  • Provide some of the above HR support for Profound Strategy’s subsidiary company, Syllabus, on a project basis (i.e. not continuous).

Requirements and Competencies

  • 2 years of successful HR experience, including HR metrics
  • Effective, articulate communication with a wide variety of personalities and job positions (both verbal and written, online and offline)
  • Proficient with online communication platforms and project management tools
  • Driven and self-directed in a virtual work environment
  • A self-starter and problem solver
  • Well-organized, people-oriented, and results-oriented
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of labor law and HR best practices

This salaried position is full-time. Salary range begins at $75,000-$80,000 depending on experience. Profound Strategy also offers PTO, health, vision, dental, 401k, FSA, and other benefits. Hours are generally 8AM to 5PM, Central.
