Position Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with the month end close process and to ensure transactions are recorded in the proper period. The position is responsible for cash service-related entries as well as assisting with accounting responsibilities. The position requires interfacing with various departments in the Company to provide and receive information pertinent to various accounting issues. Essential Functions: Financial Objectives Work in a manner that meets budgeted costs and constraints of the accounting department. Assist in measuring Company’s performance toward achieving its goals. Operational/Functional Objectives Actively participate in month end close and search for continuous improvement in quality and timeliness of work. Prepares daily cash deposits for non-tenant and multi-entity tenant payments received. Prepares reconciling entries to the FL to ensure cash is recorded accurately. Prepares cash entries daily. Prepares and completes bank reconciliations at month end. Completes requires account reconciliations related to deposits and other accounts as needed. Assist with processing manual checks, as needed. Assist with interim and annual financial audits related to Accounts Receivable. Maintain and improve reporting as needed to meet management requests. Draft and update accounting tools to enhance documentation and create efficiencies. Conduct special projects and other services at the request of management, which includes financial analysis and accounting research. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably with an accounting major or 3-5 years of related accounting experience. Previous experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Treasury or other cash management role preferred. Must be proficient in various software packages including, but not limited to, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Teams, and Adobe. Property Management experience a strong plus but not required. Must be proficient in use of various accounting software. Yardi experience preferred. Must be proficient in GAAP, including prepaids and accrual recognition. Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills. Self-directed, motivated, and proven critical thinking skills. Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to work independently. Reliable, dependable, and trustworthy. Performs duties in a professional manner and in accordance with laws and regulations.
