Job Summary:
We are seeking a General Clerk that combines clerical responsibilities with administrative and customer service tasks. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong time-management and organizational skills to support the medical records department and general office operations. The role offers flexibility with remote work, requiring only one in-office day per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Retrieve, handle, and upload medical records from provider offices via fax, mail, or electronic systems.
- Answer and manage calls related to medical records inquiries.
- Perform data entry, maintain accurate records, and compile information for reports.
- Organize and manage correspondence, invoices, receipts, and other records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Operate basic office equipment such as photocopiers, fax machines, and multi-line phone systems.
- Provide training for new clerical staff and support ongoing team development.
- Conduct quality checks on clerical tasks and report findings to supervisors.
- Handle administrative tasks, including scheduling, proofreading, and resolving customer complaints.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in administrative, clerical, or operations roles.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams).
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Athena, or similar.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
- Equipment: A Windows laptop compatible with CareFirst and reliable internet.
- Additional Skills: Strong communication skills (written and verbal), excellent organizational abilities, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in data entry and experience working in a mailroom.
- Previous exposure to medical records processes or healthcare environments.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
