Position: Assessment and Retention Team Specialist Type: Part-time
Reports to: Director of Programming & Strategy Hours: 20/week
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
Assess, motivate, and retain current students. Interpret assessment results, and update the student portfolio, make recommendations for appropriate class placements. Coordinate regularly scheduled student follow-up and reassessment. Comply with all Project Learn of Summit County and Ohio
Department of Higher Education Aspire policies, procedures, and grant requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Standards
Learner Assessment and Retention:
- Coordinate with the Director of Progamming & Strategy and Instructors to proctor posttests
- Implement a system for tracking learner progress, advancement, and goal-attainment through standardized posttests, student portfolio review and follow-up
- Provide feedback to the instructor on students’ goals and assessment results
- Maintain accurate student records as required by funders
- Ensure proper learner documentation is completed
- Provide statistics for research and evaluation
Student Motivation and Coaching:
- Provide open, honest, and motivational feedback to students throughout the students’ educational journey
- Contact and encourage students who have stopped out or not attended to get back on track
- Initiate student transfers and make recommendations for class placements based on TABE results
- Award motivational incentives as students reach educational milestones
Fund Development:
- Participate in fund development activities as assigned by the Executive Director
Special Projects:
- Complete special projects as assigned by the Executive Director
Professional Development:
- Attend local, state, and/or national conferences related to adult literacy, assessment, cultural awareness and sensitivity, and/or social services administration
EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:
High school equivalency and related experience in adult learning and literacy, administering and interpreting standardized and performance assessments; and/or social service experience.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
- part-time, hourly employee
- reports to the Director of Programming & Strategy
- location: Main Office, downtown Akron and various instructional sites throughout Summit County
- works some weekends as needed
- some local and overnight travel as needed
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
