What are the responsibilities and job description for the PM Security Screening Assistant/PSA position at Prospect Airport Services?
Duties:
Security assistants at the airport are responsible screening passengers and employees entering aircraft or other security sensitive areas throughout the airport. Duties include;
- Properly searching persons with the use of metal detecting wands and or pat downs
- Performing aircraft security searches
- Recognizing and reporting prohibited items
- Only allowing permitted employees on the ramp or om other secured areas
- Communicating clearly and effectively with management and co-workers during the security screening processes
While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently required to walk & stand for extended periods of time and must be able to repetitively lift and/or move items up to, and some times exceeding 50 lbs. Please note: work areas can be very hot and this position may require employees to stand outdoors for extended periods of time.
Additionally, all security screening assistants are cross-trained to perform the duties of an airport wheelchair assistant. This includes assisting passengers with disabilities and elderly passengers with wheelchair and baggage assistance, when needed. When performing these duties, the pay rate is $13.00/hr plus tips. Employees do receive regular cash tips.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a valid drivers license or state ID and be able to pass a federal background check
- Must be able to obtain a Customs seal in addition to the airport SIDA badge
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to physically perform required work, including heavy and repetitive lifting
- Professional appearance
- Customer service skills
- Dependable, self motivated and responsible
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
Available Shift(s): 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
