PTC is Hiring a Technical Support Engineer Intern Near Boston, MA

Our 10-week Americas Summer Internship Program offers students an immersive learning experience with hands on work in areas across the organization. Interning with PTC provides students with the opportunity to work on high-visibility and high impact projects. This program begins June 5, 2023 and concludes August 11, 2023.

Technical Support Engineer

In this exciting role, you will be part of the Support Services global organization with an emphasis on collaboration and customer focus. You will be responsible for interacting with some of PTC’s largest most strategic customers that require the highest level of service PTC offers.

This includes improving Knowledge Base articles to capture the relevant product information to assist customers in identifying and resolving their technical issues in a timely manner and recommending innovative ways to incorporate PTC 2020 behaviors in the day of the life of a TSE.

Your Team

As an intern you will work with Technical Support Engineers , and will assist customers worldwide in analyzing, tracking, and solving issues related to PTC's Windchill, Creo, and IOT product suites.

In this role you will develop communication, presentation, customer service and PTC product skills as a result of working with customers worldwide. This position offers a candidate the opportunity to learn and use the world's leading PLM system, Windchill, and solid modeling package, Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER), along with getting introduced to our ThingWorx technology platforms to help companies achieve smart, connected systems. Day-To-Day:

The Technical Support Intern will be involved with assisting the teams to improve processes for problem solving and driving customer success. The main tasks in scope of this project will be

- Contribute to PTC Customer Self Help Success by reviewing Knowledge Base articles frequently reused internally and determine how we can make them more visible to our customer base. Understand how our various solutions (ISG and IOT products) work with one another

- Work on a project using the various products to learn more how our customers use these products

- Attend team meetings and participate in team activities to understand PTC Technical Support Services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to analyze details and synthesize the "big picture" from incomplete or ambiguous data
  • Ability to develop a coherent plan of action that meets everyone’s needs to resolve a given situation as quickly as possible

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce audience appropriate technical communications
  • Comfortable in creating and delivering presentations in front of a small audience
  • General IT skills (Windows, UNIX, Network, Hardware Knowhow, Utilities, Scripting, etc.)

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with a CAD (Creo, Pro/ENGINEER, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.) or with PDM/PLM (PTC Windchill, TeamCenter, MatrixOne, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with some aspects of enterprise application suites (networks, database configuration, server configuration, Web Server optimization, load balancing hardware, and SQL tuning) a plus
