Job Focus:
The Healthcare Charge Auditor is responsible for reviewing and auditing billing practices and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accurate reimbursement. This role plays a critical part in identifying discrepancies, improving revenue cycle processes, and supporting the organization's financial health. This individual must demonstrate a commitment to the organization's strategic plans, short- and long-term goals and mission, vision, and values by representing the company in a caring and professional manner.
Primary/Essential Expectations for Success:
- Conduct comprehensive audits of patient billing records, charge capture processes, and clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Identify and analyze discrepancies in billing and documentation, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with clinical staff, coding professionals, and billing departments to resolve issues and ensure accurate charge capture
- Develop and maintain audit reports, track trends and providing insights to management for performance improvement
- Stay current with healthcare regulations, coding updates, and industry best practices to inform audit processes
- Assist in training staff on charge capture processes, compliance standards, and documentation requirements
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to charge auditing and revenue cycle management
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis
- Review Surgical logs for appropriate times of operation and anesthesia
- Review charges on account for accuracy/update accordingly
- Review documentation and post missing charges
- Review admission orders to confirm correct patient status
- Review of charge audits completed by the client of our charge posting
- Charge denial review

Core Talent Essentials:
- Completed a registered nursing program from an accredited educational institution
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in healthcare auditing, billing, or coding is preferred
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, coding systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS), and reimbursement methodologies
- Advanced level of medical terminology
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and billing software
- Self-motivated and passionate about our mission and values of quality work
- Professional level skills in MS products such as Excel, Word, Power Point
- Proficient application of business/office standard processes and technical applications
Physical Environment:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at one time
- Must be able to structure your home office to ensure patient information is secure meeting the regulatory expectations
