What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift QA Technician position at Quaker Maid Meats, Inc?
Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee that the assigned plant meets all Food Safety, guidelines under SQF Codes, State, Federal, and Company regulations prior, during and after operating.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Train employees on GMP’s and food safety
- Address employees who are not incompliance with GMP’s or food safety guidelines; Involve employees Supervisor if necessary
- Conduct pre-operation inspection; conduct swab testing prior to the plant starting up (if needed)
- Ensure that plant complies with Company and USDA temperature regulations; has discretion to stop production if temperature is not correct; must communicate all temperature issues to Production Supervisor or Manager immediately
- Inspect raw meat product and tag any meat product that does not meet Company standards; persistently track down reasons that caused the product to be tagged and communicate it to QA Director for further instructions
- Perform test samples to determine the fat levels
- Ensure that test samples of product produced are taken to the Lab for further testing; driving to the Lab or other plants is not a requirement but if it is preferred then one must follow all driving laws and obey all traffic signs.
- Inspect all equipment prior to start-up to ensure that they are functional and that the operators have all of the necessary supplies that is needed to perform their job
- Complete daily reports and maintain raw meat inspections
- Every 40 minutes to 1 hour inspect all metal detectors to ensure that they are operational and functioning properly.
- Complete daily inspection checklist daily; document results accurately; communicate results to appropriate personnel
- Cover other QA Techs. at the other plants when needed
- Communicate and work with employees of all levels and USDA
- Comply with all State, Federal and Company Safety guidelines and procedures
- Assume additional duties as they become necessary.
Qualifications:

Education and or Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Good understanding of Company, State and Federal policies and regulations preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $20.50 per hour
