Our client, , is a leading Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) company specializing in providing end-to-end solutions for electronic product development, manufacturing, and distribution. The Role:
The Quality & Surface Mount Repair Associate is responsible for overseeing the quality control processes throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, from incoming materials inspection to final product review post testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction. This role will also support the repair team by assisting with repairs, processing RMA's, and lead AOI Review/Inspection.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Control: Perform incoming materials inspection, in-process inspection for both process and product, and final review post product testing to ensure compliance with quality standards, AWI processes, and customer requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist with the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures and protocols to maintain consistent product quality and reliability.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Assistance with investigations of quality incidents and non-conformities using root cause analysis techniques such as 5 Whys to identify underlying causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards such as ISO 9001, IPC standards, ESD Control, and customer-specific quality certifications.
  • Assist AOI Machine Operational processes. This role will be responsible for Inspection, Quality Assurance, and Reporting.
  • Support the Repair Team as needed:
    • Perform diagnostic tests on faulty surface mount assemblies to identify defects and root causes.
    • Utilize soldering and rework equipment to repair surface mount components, including but not limited to resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits (ICs), and other SMT devices .
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality management system reviews to drive excellence in quality performance and processes.
Working Conditions: The role may require working in a manufacturing or repair facility, often in a laboratory or workshop environment. The technician may need to work with potentially hazardous materials and equipment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the EMS or electronics manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in surface mount circuit board repair and electronics assembly.
  • Experience in quality control measures and processes.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and interfacing with customers and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An attention to detail, precision, and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to the EMS industry.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 quality standards for repair.
  • Willingness to learn and stay updated with the latest advancements in technology, equipment, and techniques through training and self-study.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer)
  • Certification in IPC-A-610 quality standards
  • Experience using AOI software and interpreting inspection results.
