Senior Accountant, Translation Services

NOTE:  We are seeking candidates to be based in Utah and preference will be given to local candidates.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Controller, and as an integral part of Questel’s accounting team, this role is responsible to serve as a team leader within accounting department to ensure the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This includes the production of monthly financial reports and maintenance of the accounting system to ensure that financial records comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards for the accounting department. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Analyze accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department
• Review GL records of accounts weekly to ensure accuracy for all offices
• Create procedure manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel
• Document monthly B/S reviews
• Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
• Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
• Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements
• Provide analysis on consolidated financial statements to controller
• Prepare monthly journal entries
• Import payroll data into the ERP system
• Calculate monthly transfer pricing entries
• Assist in gathering data for the annual budget and forecasts
• Assist in the provision of information to external auditors for all audits
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Work on special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required; master’s degree preferred.  Minimum of 5 years’ professional accounting experience, or any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Demonstrated management and supervisory skills required
• Working knowledge of NetSuite or equivalent accounting software required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, regression analysis, etc.) preferred
• Excellent ten-key and data entry skills required
• Direct experience in financial statement preparation, general ledger knowledge, account reconciliation, and debit/credit knowledge required
• Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills using professional tone and language; tactful and diplomatic with a clear, straightforward, courteous and cooperative manner when dealing with others
• Demonstrated skills in project management, negotiations and problem-solving
• Outstanding planning, scheduling, and coordination skills
• Highly developed interpersonal skills
• Willingness to occasionally manage and deliver projects during non-standard hours
• Detail-oriented, organized, thorough, accurate, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner
• Able to effectively multi-task in stressful situations
• Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Able to complete heavy workloads within an established time frame
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Participate in a culture of responsiveness to strengthen relationships and ensure the needs and time of others are met and respected
• Fluent in English
• Fluency in a foreign language or skilled in translation industry
