Summary: The Controller is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the organization including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, billing, banking, vendor management, and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and internal policies and procedures. The Controller also analyzes existing processes and identifies new opportunities to improve efficiencies.

Qualifications:To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Bachelor's Degree and job-related work experience or educational training in related field is required. Candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Controller or equivalent in a non-profit organization with a budget of at least $10 million highly preferred. Knowledge of GAAP and tax requirements required.

EssentialDuties &Responsibilities
- Manage all accounts, ledgers, reconciliations, and reporting systems ensuring GAAP standards and other regulatory requirements. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Prepare financial reports for management and Board of Directors.
- Oversee accounting related to grants; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period for government, corporate, and foundation grants. Prepare and submit grant-related reports required by granting authorities, support grant billings when needed, identify and ensure that all documentation is accurate for costs eligible for reimbursement.
- Oversee the activities for cash disbursements, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, expense reports, and cash control.
- Oversee accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of the AR aging including billings, cash receipts, monthly and year-end closing including the monitoring of federal and state reports required by 3rd party agencies.
- Manage payroll processing, reconciliation, and contributions to retirement plan and other required state/federal reporting.
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting. Prepare monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliations including investment accounts.
- Oversee and coordinate activities with external auditors; manage lead schedules for the financial audit, single audit, 990 and tax returns, and preparation of annual financial statements.
- Manage all tax related filings.
- Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare actuals against budgets. Prepare budgets for new applications and revised grant requirements.
- Prepare and manage fixed asset entries and reconcile fixed asset module.
- Act as primary contact with insurance agents for insurance-related matters. Review renewing policies and continued suitability for Company needs.
- Adhere to standard practice internal control procedures for all aspects of accounting, maintaining safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets.
- Update and implement all necessary business policies, accounting practices, and improvements; focus on building efficiencies and automation across the department and organization.
- Clarify roles and responsibilities, establish and monitor performance goals, and set employees up for success and professional growth.
