We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Onsite IT Support Technician 1 to join our IT Support team. The IT Support Technician is responsible for direct technical support for onsite users, assist in IT purchasing and inventory management, ensure the smooth deployment and imaging of laptops, and participate in various special IT projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Job duties may be added or taken away due to operational / business needs and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Support Technician Tier 1, you will be responsible for:
- Onsite Technical Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide hands-on support to onsite users, addressing technical issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. Obtaining vendor charges and auditing for accuracy and legitimacy.
- Respond to walk-up requests, service desk tickets, and VIP user requests.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with critical platforms, including,
- Windows OS, Office 365, and Outlook
- SAP TM (logistics), SAP ECC (accounting)
- Salesforce, CargoWise, AS400
- Ensure timely resolution and maintain accurate records of support activities in the ticketing system
- Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule, with additional compensation.
- Printer Maintenance
- Collaborate with Xerox to manage and resolve printer-related issues, ensuring that devices are regularly maintained and functioning optimally.
- IT Purchasing and Asset Management Support:
- Assist with the procurement of IT equipment, inventory management, and vendor communications.
- Track the receipt, inspection, and deployment of hardware and software assets, ensuring accurate asset records.
- Laptop Imaging Deployment
- Configure and image laptops to meet company standards, using Endpoint Central or similar tools.
- Deploy laptops to new hires and existing employees, ensuring a smooth and efficient setup process.
- Provide primary support for Windows-based devices, with occasional assistance for Mac users.
- Special IT Projects
- Contribute to IT projects such as system upgrades, office relocations, and technology rollouts.
- Collaborate with team members on process improvements and updates to internal documentation.
- General IT Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and security
- Monitor system alerts and proactively address performance or security concerns.
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor / Associate degree in Information Technology or a related field is a plus.
- Experience
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
- Previous experience with imaging tools
- Background in IT support platforms is an asset.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Mac OS is a plus
- Knowledge of platforms such as SAP TM, SAP ECC, Salesforce, CargoWise, and AS400 is advantageous.
- Experience with Active Directory, basic networking, and troubleshooting tools.

- Work Schedule
- Standard working hours of 8 hours per day with requisite meal and rest breaks.
- Flexibility during critical projects or system downtimes.
- On-Call Rotation: This role is required to participate in an on-call rotation every 6 weeks.
- The on-call rotation includes being available from 5:30 PM to 5:00 AM during weekdays (Monday through Thursday).
- On weekends, you will be responsible for on-call availability from Friday 5:30 PM to Monday 5:00 AM
- Physical Demands
- Regular physical demands: Walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; use fingers for keyboarding; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Occasional lifting, moving, and positioning of IT equipment, including items up to 50 lbs. May require bending, stooping, or kneeling to handle equipment or cables.
