With a focus on meeting and exceeding revenue goals, this position also builds and maintains relationships with foundations while supervising the Grant Writer to strengthen the organization's capacity to secure transformative funding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Grant Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of grant writing, stewardship reporting, and programmatic and development writing for Raise the Future. This includes securing government and private funding, managing proposal and reporting schedules, and supervising the Grant Writer. The Senior Grant Manager plays a critical role in advancing the organization's mission by generating revenue to support programs and services through compelling and strategic grant submissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Grant Acquisition and Writing
- Directly secure $100,000 in grants annually and write proposals for relationship managers resulting in over $1,000,000 in philanthropic funding.
- Assess, cCraft, and review, and edit proposals tailored to donor prospects, building strong cases for support.
- Conduct research on potential funding opportunities, including monitoring foundation, state, and federal funding sources.
- Engage with foundation program officers to cultivate relationships and secure invitations for proposals.
- Grant Strategy and Coordination
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to align funding strategies with organizational needs and donor interests.
- Project manage government grant Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and renewal applications, ensuring clarity of roles and deadlines for program, finance, and development teams.
- Work with the Finance team to develop program budgets and reconcile grant management data with financial records monthly.
- Grant Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records and tracking systems in the Raiser's Edge database.
- Oversee the development and submission of grant proposals, reports, and supporting documents for funders.
- Analyze contracts and ensure all documentation is accurate and completed.
- Manage the organization's grant reporting schedule, providing weekly updates on tasks and deadlines.
- Collaborate with Data and Program staff to gather relevant data and program updates for funder reports.
- Donor Stewardship and Outreach
- Conduct outreach to foundations and attend site visits, receptions, and meetings with key staff as necessary.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise the Grant Writer, providing guidance and support to enhance grant writing capacity and effectiveness.
- Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Development and Communications team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of grant writing experience, including securing government and private funds.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar donor management software.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Knowledge of nonprofit funding and the grant process, including budgeting and reporting requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with donors, program officers, and internal stakeholders.
