Process Control Engineer

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Process Control Engineer for a manufacturing & production company in Columbus, MS. This role is responsible for managing the reliable performance of control systems hardware and software, providing process optimization, and troubleshooting process issues.
Full-time salaried position.

Key Responsibilities
Process Control & Troubleshooting:
Manage and ensure the reliable performance of the mill’s control systems hardware and software.
Lead and support production and maintenance teams in troubleshooting process issues and control instrumentation.
Assist in process and maintenance troubleshooting activities and RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) investigations.
Work with operations to optimize control strategies and improve system efficiency.
Work toward process optimization through the IEPM (Instrument and Electrical Precision Maintenance) process.
System & Record Management:
Maintain accurate records of control system configurations and troubleshooting activities.
Develop and maintain good record-keeping systems in areas of responsibility.
Own and manage alarm management activities for assigned areas.
Process & Environmental Compliance:
Support process and maintenance teams in compliance with environmental systems.
Ensure all process control systems align with regulatory and company safety standards.
Technical Leadership & Support:
Provide technical training and mentoring to other engineers and technicians.
Support mill-wide implementation of IEPM and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop new control strategies to enhance process optimization.
Provide weekend/night duty and after-hours technical and leadership support as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a continuous process industry.
Minimum 3 years of experience in process control and/or process engineering.
Strong technical knowledge in controls engineering and control systems.
Experience troubleshooting and maintaining process control instrumentation and operator interfaces.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple stakeholder groups.
