What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Raka?
We are looking for a project manager to work with our growing roster of clients in multiple industries and help support our growing agency.
Are you:
- Personable?
- Organized?
- Fair?
- Flexible?
- Thick-skinned?
- A quick thinker?
- A fast learner?
- Detail-oriented?
- A team player?
- A big-picture person?
- Someone who embraces (and maybe even causes) change?
- Able to recognize a great GIF when you see one?
If you answered “yes” to most of these (especially the GIF one), you may be a great fit for Raka. Our project managers don’t just run time reports and schedule meetings, they’re the face of the company for our clients and an advocate for both client needs and internal teams.
Maybe you’ve already worked as an agency project manager or you have worked as part of a digital marketing team. Regardless of your past experience, successful project managers at Raka will be able to prioritize projects and tasks, focus on the details while keeping an eye on the big picture, manage and motivate others, and take criticism without letting it get to you.
While we’re certainly interested in your education and resume, what’s most important to us is that you’re a fit for us. If you think you’re a great fit, show us with anecdotal and experiential evidence, and make hiring you the easiest choice we’ve ever made.
What You Will Do
- Co-lead client accounts, alongside a member of the Strategy and Content team, serving as one of the point-of-contacts for Raka’s clients.
- Lead meetings, prepare and share agendas, take detailed notes, provide meeting recaps, and update the internal team as needed.
- Manage retainer engagements and projects to ensure client satisfaction, completion on schedule, and within the parameters of the client’s budget.
- Provide quality assurance on all client deliverables. (Nothing goes to the client without your eyes on it!)
- Collaborate with marketing strategists to organize and plan accounts according to the client needs, account goals and priorities, scope, along with the team’s availability and budget usage.
- Manage internal action items (tasks) in Raka’s project management tool.
- Lead client kickoff meetings and the creation of materials needed for the kickoff.
- Communicate project and account status, including relationship health and budget health, to account teams, Raka’s management team, and our clients.
- Manage internal and external follow-ups within 24 hours of meetings or requests.
- Liaise with the Director of Client Services and Director of Operations to ensure proper resourcing and scheduling.
- Serve as an advocate for Raka’s clients and team.
What Skills and Experiences You Have
- You can have a great attitude with clients and our team; you are quick on your feet and love helping people work through problems.
- You can juggle many different projects at once while keeping your eye on both the details and the overall big-picture goals.
- You’re nice but you’re definitely not a pushover. People (both clients and our team) like you but know not to mess with you when you have a mission to carry out.
- You’re not afraid to pick up the phone, even when your message is not going to go over well.
- You have at least a fundamental understanding of SEO, copywriting, digital advertising, web design and development, and are passionate about technology.
- You don’t just know what “pleasant prodding” means, you subscribe to it as a method.
- You have 1-2 years in an agency setting, preferably managing multiple projects.
- You are comfortable corresponding with clients in person, over the phone and via email.
- You have experience using project management software such as Teamwork, Asana, Basecamp, etc.
- You have prior experience managing both short-term projects and long-term engagements.
- You are fluent in the Google Suite (Docs/Sheets/Slides), Microsoft Office Suite, or Apple Suite (Pages/Keynote/Numbers).
