POSITION: CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST  

Reach for Youth desires to add a caring and compassionate full-time youth and family therapist to join our dynamic, and diverse multi-disciplinary teams at our Indianapolis location. This role involves providing office-based individual and family therapy and participating in clinical programming within the community at various partner sites

As a clinician at Reach for Youth, you will be at the forefront of providing clinical services that will enhance relationships, build connections, and provide hope to youth, families, and the community. 

STORY AND MISSION: 

Reach For Youth, Inc. was established in 1974 by a coalition of south-side Indianapolis community leaders concerned about the lack of services and programs in their neighborhood. Today we serve over 3500 youth and their families from throughout Central Indiana, providing mental health and counseling interventions, Teen Court programs, school readiness intervention, and a host of other prevention services that provide opportunities for youth and strengthen families. The mission of Reach For Youth is to empower Central Indiana youth and their families through prevention, intervention, counseling and youth development initiatives. 

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES: 

Reach For Youth’s mission is fulfilled through two primary programs: Family focused counseling services and restorative justice prevention/intervention. Counseling services include individual, group and family counseling, and various educational and therapeutic groups and programs. Restorative justice/intervention services include Teen Court, both in the local schools and community, REACH Program, Restorative Justice Circles and Social Emotional Learning sessions. Reach For Youth’s mental health and positive youth development services address the four essential elements of positive youth development and mental health: a sense of belonging; a sense of mastery; obtaining independence; and promoting servant leadership through social and community engagement. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Preferred applicant will have a Masters Level degree from an accredited school in the field of mental health such as: Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Counseling Psychology. Please note - Applicants who have started, or are getting ready to start, their internships within a Master's Program will also be considered. Preferred applicants are those who have obtained a provisional or full license by the State of Indiana as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Knowledge of the juvenile justice system, child welfare system, community resources, and or substance abuse issues is desired. 

REPORTS TO: 

Clinical Supervisor  

PURPOSE: 

To provide clinical mental health counseling services - including individual, family and group counseling - to youth ages 7 to 18 and their families. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Conduct assessments of individuals and families  

Develop individualized treatment plans with clients and their families  

Conduct individual and family counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices  

Plan, develop and deliver psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, alone and with a co-facilitator 

Maintain collateral community contacts to advocate for and assist clients to obtain needed services and resources, and to facilitate agency referrals  

Maintains timely documentation in a way which adheres to applicable regulations and professional practice standards   

Assist with program planning and evaluation 

Provide two evenings (until 7pm)

Other duties as assigned
