What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mental Health Direct Care - Group Home position at Reach To Win Youth Home & Family Services Inc?
Reach to Win Youth Home and Family Services is a Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) facility that provides residential and mental health services to girls ages 12 to 17 years old. We are seeking a dynamic leader to accept this opportunity, grow and develop with us.
We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our team. The essence of the Short-Term Residential Treatment Program (STRTP) Mental Health Care Worker is best stated to be accountable for meeting the needs of the teen and non-minor dependent girls and to provide adequate care and supervision of youth residents that are always in our care individually and in groups, in accordance with applicable law, licensing regulations, our clinical team and facility policies.
The Mental Health Care Worker's goals will be to improve the quality of life and make a difference in the lives of the youth under their direct care by providing direct supervision, support and behavior management in a safe, therapeutic, and nurturing environment residing in residential care.
QUALIFICATIONS: Mental Health Care/Direct Care staff shall meet at least ONE of the following qualifications:
- 1. Have obtained an Associates Degree or Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree,
Or 2. Have obtained a valid Child Development Teaching Permit,
Or. 3. Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with children.
Or 4. Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have completed at least 100 hours of on-the-job experience working with youth children. The 100 hours of on-the-job experience may be completed after starting employment at the facility. Pending completion of the 100 hours, staff shall not be counted in the staff to child ratio and shall not be left unsupervised with children.
Or 5. Have a valid vocational training certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journey-person who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with children Oli adults as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, caregiver within a residential setting, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
Or 6. Previously been employed as a full-time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
Or 7. Have relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver, or life experience with children who have experienced high levels of trauma, or other relevant experience as determined by the department.
An ideal direct care staff candidate should demonstrate all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1. Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children served in a children's residential setting.
2. Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with children who have diverse backgrounds.
3. Skills and ability to provide consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions.
4. Skills to communicate effectively with the ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
