You’re an experienced Surgical First Assistant with the skills and passion to support surgical teams in delivering excellent patient care. You have the clinical expertise to assist during surgeries, manage surgical instruments, and provide post-operative care. You thrive in a high-pressure environment, are flexible with your working hours, and are committed to continual professional development.
Key skills and experience include:

- Relevant qualifications (NMC or HCPC registration and surgical first assistant certificate)
- Proven experience assisting in surgical procedures, with a strong understanding of sterile techniques.
- ILS
- Mentorship Qualification
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
As a Surgical First Assistant, you will be responsible for providing essential support throughout the surgical process. This includes assisting with patient positioning, managing surgical instruments, ensuring the sterile environment is maintained, and directly assisting the surgical team during procedures.
Your role will also involve:
- Assisting the surgeon during operations, ensuring instruments are prepared and passed in a timely manner.
- Maintaining a sterile field and ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Preparing patients for surgery, assisting with their positioning, and managing post-operative care.
- Collaborating with the surgical and nursing teams to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
- Contributing to departmental best practices, ensuring the highest standards of care and patient safety.
