The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assumes part and/or full-time clinical responsibility in an assigned facility. This is a professional position with the primary responsibility of direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Additional duties of an administrative nature are to be performed as assigned. Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, is at all times responsible to follow all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in-home care, to follow the treatment set only as defined by the Physical Therapist; to perform only those procedures that he/she is qualified and trained to perform and to make all recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising Physical Therapist.
You will:
- Following the plan of care, instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait training, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
- Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, the supervising nurse, and/or the physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
- Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in the areas of therapy in which they can participate to assist the patient.
- Visits patient according to Plan of Treatment; complete a daily note for each visit.
- Participates in developing the Plan of Treatment as needed with communication with the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Adheres to Therapy Standards of Practice in the provision of services to all patients.
- Reports to the Physical Therapist information relating to the patient’s progress, complication, and /or response to treatment
- Assist Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatment to ensure the safe, effective evaluation and treatment of patients
You currently:
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Washington
- Must be able to take direction from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety.
- Must be able to work independently with periodic (daily or less) support and direction.
