Description

Summary

The Student Affairs Graduate Intern for Student Wellness and First-Generation Student Success is a cross-functional position between Student Affairs, Health Services, and the Center for Inclusive Excellence. It is a 12-month 30 hour/week position that promotes developmental and professional learning while pursuing a graduate degree.

The Grad Intern works to support the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs by assisting with divisional programming initiatives, facilitating a variety of co-curricular learning experiences, and creating informational and educational marketing campaigns in partnership with the Office of Health Services, and Residence Life (approximately 30 hours/week). The Graduate Intern’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Job Functions:

Student Affairs and Enrollment Responsibilities:

  • Assist in divisional programming initiatives, including:
    • New Student Orientation
    • First-Generation student engagement
    • Parent/Family engagement
    • RegisFest
    • On campus summer international initiatives
  • Assist in the active engagement of student voice (i.e. Lunch meetings, focus groups, etc.)
  • Assist in the management and coordination of the divisional social media
  • Partner with the Center for Student Engagement, the Office of Residence Life, the Center for Inclusive Excellence, and the Center for Ministry and Service to support and coordinate programming.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of enrollment events as directed.

Student Wellness Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and assess health and wellness educational efforts 
  • Complete RADical Health training and administer training and tools to various groups of student leaders
  • Collaborate on the creation and planning of annual health and wellness programming, and other institution wide programming efforts.
  • Provide educational opportunities for Office of Student Conduct, Health Services, and Residence Life.
  • Support the outreach, public relations, and advertising efforts for the Division of Student Affairs, Health Services, and the Center for Ministry & Service.
  • Participate in regular Residence Life meetings, including Tuesday morning staff meeting and any training related to on-call policies or procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Division of Student Affairs.

On Call Responsibilities:

  • Train in incident management and crisis protocol with the Office of Residence Life and Housing.
  • Serve as a member of the Professional Staff On-Duty (PSOD) rotation. Rotation consistency is variable and agreed upon at the beginning of each semester. Responsibilities to include the following:
    • Respond to on-campus issues or concerns as they arise; facilitate response with appropriate parties, serve as support staff to resident assistants and Campus Police wherever needed
    • Communicate with appropriate offices on campus regarding the welfare of residents
    • Complete and distribute duty log by 9am for weekday duties

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse constituencies.
  • Interest/Experience in working with students, health promotion, or higher education.
  • Some evening and weekend hours are required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

Stipend & Benefits:

  • $6,000 stipend (12-month).
  • Tuition remission for two (2) eligible Regis graduate courses/semester, with a maximum of six graduate courses (18 credits) per academic year. 
    • The following campus-based programs are eligible for tuition remission: 
      • 30 credits of MA in Strategic Communication
      • 60 credits of MA in Counseling (24 credits are not covered by tuition remission. The supervised field experience must be completed after the graduate intern role is complete.)
      • 33 credits of MS in Health Administration. 
    • The following fully online programs quality for tuition remission on a space-available basis:
      • 36 credits of MEd in Student Success
      • 30 credits of MS in Product Management
      • 42 credits of Master of Public Health (6 credits are not covered by tuition remission
      • 30 credits of Master of Social Work.
    • Courses in the graduate Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Doctor of Education programs are not eligible for tuition remission.

  • Flexible schedule.

NOTE: This is a 12-month position, with the opportunity to continue the position for one additional 12-month term (24-month maximum).

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Conditions include a normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required, and staff will provide assistance during major campus events.
  • Staff will work indoors and outdoors.
  • May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
