Life Skills/Cognitive Skills Trainer

Summary:

FULL-TIME. Develops and implements cognitive-based programs to individuals with brain injuries, within a structured outpatient setting or in the community, in order to develop life skills and promote improved quality of life through meaningful activities and to meet specific rehabilitation needs.

Requirements:

• Ability to lift, maneuver and carry up to 30lbs.
• Ability to assist with transfers (e.g. to/from wheelchair)
• Valid driver’s license required
• Acceptable driving record
• Ability to utilize e-mail (Google Workspace platform) and EHR
• Experience as a direct support professional helpful
• Bilingual Spanish highly encouraged to apply
• CPR/First Aid certification and other DDD trainings (may obtain certification/trainings after hire)

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide cognitive-based activities to clients with brain injuries and other neurological impairments, including identifying and implementing functional strategies and utilization of techniques and/or materials to support and enhance cognitive abilities
• Assist an interdisciplinary team in recommending and implementing strategies to support optimal functioning and facilitate carryover of treatment goals
• Support clients in regaining or maintaining their independence and empowering them to become integrated members of their communities, based on their individualized treatment plans
• Keep clients safe from health hazards
• Assist clients with personal care tasks
• Assist clients with social skills
• Assist with medication administration

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
