Mental Health Clinician
RSS is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Professional for our newly launched Safe Options Support (SOS) team. The Licensed Mental Health Professional will play a pivotal role on one of Governor’s newly launched innovative Safe Options Support (SOS) teams, which will provide comprehensive care to street homeless dwelling individuals in Tioga and Tompkins counties. As a Mental Health Clinician, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Make a positive impact on homeless New Yorkers
- Provide comprehensive care through community outreach
- Coordinate participants’ needs and enhance daily living skills
- Advocate for homeless individuals
- Follow the acclaimed Critical Time Intervention model
Requirements of the Mental Health Professional:
- Licensed master’s degree or higher in social work (LMSW), mental health counseling, nursing, psychology, or CASAC Licensed master’s degree or higher in social work, mental health counseling, nursing or psychology or CASAC.
- MSW will be considered with plan to get licensure and experience working with homeless individuals.
- Knowledge of homeless resources in Tioga and Tompkins counties a plus
Responsibilities of the Mental Health Professional:
- Supervising care managers and peer specialists
- Persistent outreach and collaboration with street outreach teams and local police precincts
- Resolving clinical issues, navigating appointments and facilitating crisis interventions, conducting assessments and short-term therapeutic counseling
- Proficiency in Health Information Technology and Microsoft applications
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Location:
- Travel required throughout Tioga and Tompkins counties. This roll may require periodic on-call coverage and a willingness to work flexible hours
