Lead Sheetfed Pressman (Heidelberg Press)

Moore- ResourceOne Division is looking for a Lead Pressman to run the Heidelberg Sheetfed Press in our Commercial Print Department.

Pay: BOE Work Hours: 2nd Shift (varies) Work Days: Varies

Job Summary: The sheetfed pressman will operate the Heidelberg Speedmaster Sheetfed Press to ensure production of highest quality product, meeting performance standards and customer specifications and delivery requirements while assuring personal safety and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the setup and operation of Press equipment to customer-supplied specifications while maintaining production by planning and organizing jobs and continuously monitoring quality.
• Read and understand a job ticket; Interpret layouts, ensure that correct paper/plastic is issued and determines ink to use.
• Responsible for press make-ready and set-up; determine best sequence of colors.
• Achieve and monitor colour for consistency.
• Completes necessary paperwork and records, including recording operations and inventory on computer.
• Examines printed product for ink density, position on stock and registration and makes adjustments throughout production to maintain guide, registration and colour density.
• Inspect plates for visual defects.
• Mounts plates, blankets and balances colour.
• Maintains overall production and quality of jobs by operating press according to standard operating procedures required for the press.
• Troubleshoots and perform minor adjustments and repairs, including removing and replacing worn rollers and adjusting pressure between rollers, using hand tools.
• Prepare materials for upcoming jobs by viewing the production schedule and conferring with operator.
• Fills ink fountains of press; mix ink, maintain ink at acceptable levels.
• Completes material usage report and substrate usage logbook and other necessary paperwork.
• Operates material handling equipment to move loads to staging area for finishing.
• Wash up and keep the work area clean
• Will need to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, and lift/roll/maneuver100 pounds
• Must use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use vision to identify defects.
• Must be able to work overtime as mandated by production needs.
• Will work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven experience working as a pressman
• Sound knowledge of material requirements
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of production processes and quality control
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of employees

• Ability to work long hours, with overtime and holidays as required (OT paid over 40 hours per week).

• In-depth knowledge of the printing industry
• Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision

Education and Experience:

• A High School graduate or equivalent preferred
• 2 years' experience in a fast-paced production environment Preferred
• Proven experience working as a pressman or press operator A Plus

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to roll, lift, maneuver up to 100 lbs and continuously lift up to 20 lbs.
• Required to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach and move about the facility
• Required to grip twist and turn both hands for long periods of time

Must be authorized to work in the United States and successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation.
