What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant position at Retina EyeCare?
- Greets and rooms patient. Completes patient work-up, including collection of history and chart information such as chief complaint, medications, and allergies. Performs testing of vision, takes intraocular pressure by Tonopen. Ensures the fee sheet is properly completed and ready for data entry.
- Perform additional tests using ophthalmic equipment such as Auto Refractor, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and FA.
- Assist Retina physician with in-office ophthalmic procedures. Administers ocular medications as prescribed by the physician. Educates patients as necessary or requested.
- Provides patient counseling regarding proper use of medication. As needed, distributes approved pre- and post-op guidelines.
- Performs telephone triage to assess urgent versus emergent needs and creates schedules to meet the needs of the patient. Does general scheduling of patients and handling of phone messages.
- Provides front desk coverage as needed.
- Restocks and cleans exam rooms after patient care. Conducts area sweeps during and at end of day to ensure that team area is within office guidelines. Closes rooms at end of patient schedule.

- Qualifications:
High School/GED required. Entry level position. Training available. Ophthalmic Assistant or Medical Assistant with 1 year working experience in an ophthalmology,optometry or medical practice preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
