Reports to : Lead Ophthalmic Technician

FLSA : Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Type : Full Time, 40 hours per week. On-site with the ability to regularly travel to satellite clinics.

General Purpose of Job / Summary :

We’re looking for a friendly, motivated, and eager-to-learn Entry-Level Ophthalmic Technician to join our team! If you’re passionate about helping people, excited to start a career in healthcare, and ready to learn new skills, this is a great opportunity for you. No prior experience is required, just a desire to grow and make a difference in patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assist ophthalmologists and optometrists during patient exams.
  • Learn and help with basic technical workups, like eye pressure tests, visual exams, and more.
  • Help keep patient information updated in our Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems by entering medical history and exam results.
  • Administer eye drops and other medications, following the physician’s instructions.
  • Keep examination rooms clean and stocked with all the necessary tools.
  • Help with minor procedures and make sure everything stays sterile.
  • Be a friendly face for patients, answering questions and helping them with symptoms education, pre-operative care, post-operative care, care instructions, and scheduling.
  • Reports any out of service equipment to the clinic lead.
  • Answer patient calls, take care of pharmacy orders, and help manage the flow of communication.

Qualifications :

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Must be willing and able to regularly travel to our satellite clinics.
  • Basic computer skills and comfortable with learning new tech (like our electronic health records system and testing equipment).
  • A strong interest in healthcare and a desire to learn about ophthalmology.
  • Preferred : Associate degree or high; bilingual is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized.
  • Outstanding customer service skills; handles company business with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and tact.
  • Will observe all company confidentiality requirements and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Must be able to compassionately connect with patients to establish confident, trusting patient relationships.
  • Can remain calm and professional in situations of high pressure, stress, and / or emotion.
  • Maintain a composed demeanor, pleasant attitude, and polished, professional appearance.

    The role requires the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, as well as frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs / ladders during office inspections and maintenance activities. Occasional travel to multiple office locations is also required. The work predominantly takes place in a climate-controlled office with moderate noise levels.
