Job Description
- The Custodian role is responsible for physical maintenance, appearance and cleanliness of the agency's facilities and property. By performing routine manual tasks the Custodian role will provide a sanitary, comfortable and safe environment for all employees, tenants, program participants and guests. An effective person in role will (1) possess collaborative interpersonal skills, (2) exhibit problem solving abilities to repair and maintain building systems (3) demonstrate willingness to take direction and receive feedback, (4) be flexible for changing business needs. Finally, The Custodian role will demonstrate a positive work attitude when working with other staff members that may have diverse backgrounds and skills. 8 to 12 hours per week. Saturday shift required.
- Make a positive contribution to the environment at ReVive Center by supporting its strategic goals and objectives.
- Maintain open lines of communication, keeping all stakeholders, including the Head Custodian, Director of Operations (DO) and Executive Director (ED), informed of all critical issues.
- Adhere to established work schedule
- Maintain schedule and perform regular maintenance for systems.
- Make general repairs as required to reduce need for 3rd party contractors. Including light plumbing and light electrical work. Plumbing examples include clearing drains and toilets. Electrical examples include replacing light bulbs and electric fixtures as needed.
- Support all building maintenance contractors as directed by DO, including pest control contractor.
- Report maintenance issues to DO. Assist DO with maintenance tasks as needed.
- Prepare apartments at the time of tenant turnover including but not limited to cleaning and painting.
- Secure all property. Report any issues that impact security of building and property.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform routine custodial duties including vacuuming, mopping, dusting of staff offices and finished common areas throughout property.
- Ensure restricted areas remain open and free of debris. Remove trash from basement areas, sweep / vacuum basement. Remove trash from roof areas.
- Maintain a litter-free building exterior. Sweep sidewalks, alley, parking lot and curbs of litter and shovel snow as needed.
- Clean interior and exterior windows.
- Follow directions and establish routines for the proper use of material and supplies as prescribed by product instructions.
- Inventory supplies and report usage to DO. Prepare supply orders for janitorial and maintenance supplies with DO.
- Set up meeting room(s) as needed.
- Move office furniture, equipment and supplies.
- Perform other duties as required.
- English Proficiency: Ability to read, understand and follow instructions and training as provided for processes, supplies and equipment in English.
- Ability to operate non-motorized equipment to ensure safety of self and others, including wrench, hammer, saw and screwdriver.
- Ability to operate motorized equipment to ensure safety of self and others, including drill, saw and motorized cleaning tools.
- Ability to write and manage maintenance schedules.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
- Work 8 to 12 hours per week, including a Saturday shift.
