What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Student Software Engineer position at RFA Engineering?
RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking several part time students to join our engineering team at our customer's facility in Dubuque, Iowa. All senior standing part-time student engineers will transition to full time after graduation. You will work with our experienced engineering staff and our customer's staff to provide highly engineered, optimized designs of Off-Road equipment using state of the art engineering tools.
Job responsibilities include:
- Embedded software development using C and MATLAB/Simulink for embedded electronic controls of industrial machine system applications based on technical software requirements
- Design, develop and modify software features and libraries to integrate them into various microcontrollers
- Work with software architects and developers to research and investigate project specific applications
- Implement electrical harnesses to program and validate different microcontrollers
- Develop test cases to perform unit testing and regression testing for various aftermarket applications
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions for issues/updates posed by customer on the products released by the aftermarket team
Requirements
- Senior standing engineering student pursuing a BS or MS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant degree.
- Knowledge of off-board information analysis, development, and service tools
- Experience with C , Matlab, and Python scripting tool is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, good organizational and time management skills, and the ability to identify needed actions and act to resolve issues with minimal oversight
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with a culturally diverse, global team
- Must have a valid Drivers License
