2nd Shift Technician, Maintenance
Essential Functions

- Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
- Fabricate, disassemble and assemble production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Lubricates and cleans parts.
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines and creates and documents hours worked on applicable work orders.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot/repair processing, filling and packaging production equipment.
- Weld, perform sheet metal work and employ basic shop floor skills (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools).
- Install, move, and relocate machinery/equipment according to blueprints and other drawings.
- Read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of three to five years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sheaves, sprockets, chains, and gear reducers and proper alignment of these drive devices
- Experience in inspection of all included above and the ability to make recommendations on the proper level of replacement and inspection
- Ability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out tag-out, guarding, and the level of operator involvement for proper machine integrity
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in the food industry and knowledge of GMP’s and SQF audits would be valuable
Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and power industrial truck. The employee is frequently exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
