Provides leadership of crew members assigned to the construction and maintenance of roadways and drainage systems in assigned areas of the County.
Assists in supervising subordinate crew members; supervisory duties include instructing; assigning and reviewing work of others; maintaining standards; acting on employee problems.
Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; assists with performance evaluations; offers training, advice and assistance as needed.
Assists in processing employee time sheets.
Delegates work assignments to crews; ensures timely completion of all assigned projects.
Reads and interprets construction plans, maps and drawings.
Assists in coordinating the use of available equipment for maximum utility and convenience; inspects equipment for safety before use.
Participates in general maintenance and construction work, daily equipment operations, and inclement weather / emergency maintenance operations as necessary.
Inspects the work of crew members and contractors for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, plans, specifications, permits, and standards of quality and safety.
Monitors and assists in maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and materials for crews.
Oversees and participates in the proper maintenance of assigned supplies, tools, equipment and vehicles.
Prepares and maintains accurate records of work completed by assigned crew.
CLASS TITLE: CREW LEADER
Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility.
Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving computer data, answering the telephone, etc.
Attends training, meetings, seminars, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills
