What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plating Operator position at RIE Coatings LLC?
Primary Objective :
The Plating Operator is responsible for coating metal parts using a variety of plating applications, including zinc, copper, tin, and electroless nickel.
Key Responsibilities :
Operate machinery for metal coating and monitor the plating process.
Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing required PPE and mitigating potential hazards.
Read and understand job instructions outlined on travelers.
Measure, mark, and mask areas excluded from plating.
Prepare materials according to plating specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
Perform plating activities to meet or exceed quality standards.
Inspect plated parts for defects, impurities, or other quality concerns.
Physical Demands and Work Environment :
Work in a production environment with exposure to chemicals, vapors, and high temperatures during summer months.
Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 65 lbs and rarely up to 75 lbs).
Perform physical tasks requiring full-body movement, including climbing, lifting, balancing, and stooping.
Maintain steady hand and arm control for material handling and positioning.
Work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Qualifications :
Proven experience in metal plating processes and operations.
Understanding of plating materials and characteristics.
Attention to detail with the ability to perform quality inspections.
Strong adherence to safety protocols and workplace standards.
