Job Description
Through strategic planning and execution of key initiatives, the Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Lines (COO-CL) significantly impacts the organization’s ability to respond to market demands, ultimately contributing to its long-term growth and competitive positioning in the industry. Reporting to the National Director of Retail Operations (NDRO), the COO-CL directs both internal and external facing responsibilities, which include driving continuous revenue growth and improving profit margins. By overseeing client and project management, the COO-CL ensures that professional standards and operational excellence are maintained, leading to high-quality service delivery. The COO-CL will partner closely with the NDRO to chart future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization’s services in the Commercial Lines P&C space. Driving cross-practice collaboration with the Employee Benefits and Private Client Services COOs will align strategies, optimize operations , and enhance service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Client-Centric Solutions and Relationship Management: Develop client-focused initiatives to foster personalized service and long-term relationships, leveraging data-driven strategies to optimize client service and resource allocation.
- Operational Efficiency and Process Optimization: Streamline CL processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve margins while supporting organic growth and industry best practices across the retail platform.
- Team Leadership and Development: Inspire, mentor, and lead a high-performing regional CL team by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, promoting professional development, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Performance Monitoring and Adjustments: Establish performance metrics, continuously monitor results, and adjust strategies to achieve desired financial outcomes, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
- Develop and Execute CL Growth Strategy: Design and implement a comprehensive strategy for Commercial Lines (CL) growth, aligning with organizational goals and collaborating with senior leadership to integrate it into regional business plans.
- Collaborative Leadership and Partnerships: Partner with the National Director of Retail Operations to drive internal leadership activities such as organizational planning, talent recruitment, and scalable structure design and implementation.
- Market Representation and Integration Support: Represent the CL business in industry conferences and public forums and support the integration of acquired firms in collaboration with regional leadership and the national integration team.
- Carrier and Vendor Relationship Management: Build strong carrier relationships, manage vendor partnerships, and oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance to ensure alignment with business goals.
Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in senior management within Commercial P&C Insurance, consistently delivering superior results while managing multiple enterprise priorities and tasks
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships, exercising tact and diplomacy, complemented by outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter and self-disciplined, demonstrating collaboration and innovation, with a capacity for thoughtful, transparent, and direct communication with management and peers
- Maintains focus under pressure, effectively delivering against timelines without being intimidated by tasks or time limitations.
