Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing, with the ability to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This role requires expertise in diagnostic evaluation, patient assessment, and knowledge of anatomy, as well as experience in a Level I Trauma Center. The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of care during surgical procedures.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to surgery, ensuring all necessary information is gathered for optimal care.
- Assist in the preparation of the operating room and ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort levels throughout the surgical procedure.
- Provide support during surgeries by anticipating the needs of the surgical team and facilitating smooth operations.
- Participate in discharge planning by educating patients about post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation related to surgical procedures and outcomes.
- Stay current with best practices in internal medicine, ophthalmology, and home care to provide comprehensive support to patients.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Proven experience in an Operating Room setting, preferably within a Level I Trauma Center.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation law as it pertains to surgical care.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with medical teams and patient education.
- Ability to ventilate patients as needed during surgical procedures.
