As a Team Leader, Data Science, you’ll lead Rocket’s Applied AI Operations team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of AI governance, risk management, and AI adoption across Rocket. You’ll lead a team responsible for developing and implementing frameworks for fairness, accountability, transparency, and compliance in AI and ML models. Your work will ensure that our AI-powered systems adhere to regulatory compliance standards and align with our ISMs—Rocket’s guiding principles.

About The Role
- Lead AI Governance Initiatives
- Develop, implement, and enforce AI governance frameworks aligned with industry best practices.
- Establish policies to assess, monitor, and mitigate risks in AI systems.
- Partner with Legal to drive compliance with fair lending laws and ensure AI models do not introduce discriminatory bias.
- Monitor & Audit AI Systems
- Establish model performance monitoring and continuous auditing to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
- Work closely with Data Science, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to address AI governance challenges.
- Implement model risk classification techniques to assess AI system impact.
- Collaborate Across AI & Data Science Teams
- Partner with Data Science, Engineering, and Compliance teams to integrate responsible AI principles into product development.
- Provide guidance on AI model lifecycle management, including documentation, approvals, and review processes.
- Act as a trusted advisor on AI best practices across Rocket.
- Drive AI Education & Advocacy
- Lead internal training programs on AI, governance, and responsible AI principles.
- Champion and communicate the company’s culture and mission across Rocket.
- 5 years of experience in AI/ML governance, ML risk management, and regulatory frameworks
- Strong knowledge of AI/ML, model governance, AI/ML testing methodologies
- Experience working with AI bias detection, explainability, and responsible AI techniques
- Proficiency in Python and AI/ML Tooling
- Familiarity with ML model lifecycle management, monitoring, and validation
- Experience with data privacy, algorithmic fairness, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive AI governance initiatives
- Excellent stakeholder management skills—able to work with Data Science, Legal, Compliance, and Engineering teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI and governance topics into clear, actionable strategies
