POSITION OVERVIEW
The Pricing Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing competitive pricing strategies, accurately quoting prices for services, and ensuring profitability while maintaining client and agent satisfaction. The individual will possess a strong understanding of international routings, freight forwarding practices, incoterms, and pricing strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Pricing Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with senior management and sales teams to develop competitive pricing strategies that align with the company's goals and market trends.
- Assist with carrier contract management to establish coverage in various markets.
2. Quotation and Proposal Management:
- Prepare accurate and timely price quotations for import, export, brokerage, warehousing, trucking, and freight forwarding services based on client requirements and shipping specifications.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including operations and sales, to ensure pricing accuracy and consistency across proposals and contracts.
3. Cost Analysis and Margin Optimization:
- Analyze cost structures, including transportation, customs duties, and handling fees, to determine optimal pricing and maximize profitability.
- Monitor pricing trends, cost fluctuations, and currency exchange rates to adjust pricing strategies and maintain competitive advantage.
4. Client Relationship Management:
- Liaise with clients, operations, and agents to understand their pricing preferences, negotiate pricing agreements, and address any pricing-related inquiries or concerns.
- Communicate regularly with vendors to maintain strong, long-term relationships.
5. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) when determining pricing for import and export shipments.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or a related field is a plus.
- Preferred minimum of 2-3 years of experience in pricing, sales operations, or related roles within the logistics or customs brokerage industry.
- Strong understanding of FMC, incoterms, and freight forwarding practices.
- Proficiency in pricing strategies and cost analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven pricing decisions with accuracy.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external clients and agents.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office. CargoWise and/or rating software is a plus.
- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and quality in pricing calculations and proposals.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
