Seafood Clerks play an important role in the success of our business, influencing customer experiences in the Seafood department in many ways – product presentation, item availability on the sales floor, product freshness, pricing accuracy, department cleanliness and sanitation, and importantly, delivering remarkable service using product knowledge, suggestive selling and cooking suggestions. The position reports to the Meat Market and/or Seafood Manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting each customer with, “Good (morning, afternoon, evening)! Welcome to Rouses!”
- Engaging in appropriate conversations with customers and thanking them for choosing to shop with us
- Wrapping seafood according to Rouse's specifications using automatic and manual machines
- Using the scale to weigh and label items
- Setting seafood cases according to department direction, using signage and pricing labels as directed
- Stocking cases and displays to maintain a fresh and full appearance
- Rotating and culling items on the sales floor and in the cooler and freezer by date and taking appropriate action
- Cooking seafood items for customers, if applicable
- Replacing ice in seafood displays, as necessary
- Completing price changes, including re-wrapping, relabeling and sign changes
- Understanding the store layout to easily locate products for customers
- Completing assigned daily cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Maintaining a professional personal brand representation in the proper Rouse's uniform
- Reporting to work on time and as scheduled
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
Ability to acquire a Food Handler Card (Alabama stores) within 90 days of hire
Prior experience working in a retail meat and/or seafood department
Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand for extended periods of time
Able to distinguish product quality and freshness standards
Able to stoop, squat, reach and maneuver to move product, boxes, bags, shelving, carts and equipment
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
