What You’ll Do
A Project Engineer at Royal works intimately with customers and internal business units to successfully launch new products into projection! They provide strong leadership to a cross-functional launch team which shares a high degree of ownership and accountability in support of a common goal - excellence in new product launch. Located at our Cullman, AL facility this position reports directly to the Customer Engineering Manager.Note: This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer communication regarding overall program status and timing. Elevate gaps to project goals to the customer and Royal leadership while driving resolution.
- Provide expert technical leadership in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing efforts of cross-functional product development teams.
- Support the Hudsonville, Michigan Technical Campus during initial project definition, deliverables, and customer interface.
- Lead launch projects upon transfer to the Cullman Manufacturing Facility from the Technical Campus.
- Monitor APQP / PPAP / PSO development to meet customer objectives.
- Lead reporting of project status to Royal leadership including leading project tollgate reviews.
- Ensure all activities associated with major project gates are completed and reviewed per schedule
- Execute engineering and color changes, VA/VE activities, and tool lifecycle management for the project life
- Achieve cost, timing, and quality goals associated with the project launch.
- Support the pursuit of new business opportunities through development of key customer relationships.
- Provide Engineering support to the onsite plant production team.
- Travel, primarily local, up to 15% a year. This includes quarterly travel to Michigan.
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or similar
- Program Management experience within the Automotive Industry preferred
- Plastic Injection Molding experience required/knowledge of plastic part design principles
- 10-15 Automotive or similar years of experience
- Independent, self-motivated, and flexible
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills - ability to manage the customer
- Ability to facilitate team and customer meetings by delivering information effectively and in a well-organized manner.
